BELIEVE IN YOURSELF

The first step to happiness, and the the most important, is to believe in yourself. You are your number one fan. You must love yourself. As I am sure you have heard time and time again, you must love yourself before you can love others. This saying does hold a lot of truth. Although I do not believe it is impossible to love others if you do not love yourself, I do believe that you can truly love others better if you first love yourself. Not only that, but loving yourself and believing in yourself means that others will believe in you as well. So be proud of yourself, and be proud of your goals no matter how silly someone else may think they are. LOVE YOURSELF, RESPECT YOURSELF, AND ALWAYS, ALWAYS BE TRUE TO YOURSELF!

ARE YOU HAPPY?

Ask yourself this important question, Am I happy with my life? If you answered yes then that is truly wonderful! But if you answered no, then take a deep look at yourself and your situation and decide what changes you would like to make to fullfill your desire to be happy. Get a notebook and start making a list of the changes you want to make. From the littlest things to the very big things. From wanting to floss your teeth everyday to following your career dreams. Maybe it's time to take that dance class you have always dreamed of, of taking that hike with the children. May sound silly, but really it is not. Once you have that list made, organize it. Decide what is most important and make that your number one priority. But remember, do not try to make all of these changes in one day. Work on one thing at a time. Don't wake up one day and decide you want to get a new job, sell your house, and start taking those college courses you always wanted. As much as we would like to snap our fingers and make these things happen, it is not realistic to think that way. We all have super strenghth inside of us, but remember when you try to make too many changes at once you are setting yourself up for failure, in turn you will become unmotivated to make any changes at all. You will lose that initial drive, and lose faith in yourself. So start out simple, prioritize your goals, and chizzle and chizzle away at just one thing, until you have created your beautiful work of art. Then thats when it is ok to move onto the next thing.

DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF

Sometimes that is so much easier said than done. I myself am truly guilty of sweating the small stuff. But one very important thing I have learned from my daughters condition, is that life truly is a gift. Every second, every minute, and every hour that we are givin on this earth is so very precious. So lets skip the crap that truly means nothing, and focus on loving life. Loving ourselves, and loving others. Take the negative energy that is wasted on being angry about traffic jams, long lines at the supermarket, busy signals on the phone, the list goes on and on, but you get my point. Put that energy into positive and creative things. Find something happy to do during these angry times. Maybe singing your favorite song, deep breathing, or laughing out loud. Be creative. Always remember that life is too short and too precious to worry about the small things.

DEPRESSION

Depression can grab a hold of you and hang on for dear life. It can be very mild all the way to very severe. Depression can severely interfere with your life. Don't be ashamed if you have gotten in a funk and can't seem to find your way out. It's okay to seek help. There are many medications, as well as support groups out there for you. Please don't be afaid to get the help you need and deserve. Sometimes life is just so overwhelming it is hard to bare. Do yourself justice, and seek the extra help you may need.
